NID-DAT

NID-DAT or National Institute of Design - Design Aptitude Test is a highly competitive national level entrance exam conducted by the National Institute of Design (NID) for admission undergraduate and postgraduate design courses. The exam is designed to test the candidate's knowledge, skills, and aptitude in design-related fields such as product design, graphic design, animation, and more. The exam is conducted in two stages - the preliminary exam and the main exam.

The preliminary exam is a written test that consists of multiple-choice questions and subjective questions and is conducted in offline mode. The exam is divided into two parts - Part A and Part B. A consists of objective type questions that test the candidate's knowledge of design-related concepts such as visual communication, design theory, colour theory, drawing, and more. Part B consists of subjective type questions that test the candidate's creativity and design skills. The exam duration is three hours, and the total marks are 100.

 

Candidates who clear the preliminary exam are eligible to appear for the main exam. The main exam is a practical test that evaluates the candidate's design skills and creativity. The exam is conducted in two parts - Studio Test and Personal Interview. The Studio Test is a hands-on test that evaluates the candidate's ability to work with different materials and design elements.

 

For Post graduate candidates the Personal Interview is conducted to assess the candidate's communication skills, personality, and overall suitability for the course.

The final selection is based on the candidate's performance in both the exams. The exam is highly competitive, and candidates need to prepare well to secure a good rank.
